Born in Providence, RI, the son of Larry and Gloria Gemma, I began my career at the age of 10. With my father by my side as my teacher and mentor, I began to learn the plumbing trade when I was in the 4th grade. I attended and graduated cum laude from Suffolk University in 1992 with my BS in Legal Argument/Communications. I continued my law education at Roger Williams University School of Law and graduated in 1998 with my JD. I am currently admitted to practice Law in RI and Federal Court. In 1999, I established the law firm of Gemma & Levine and shortly thereafter, my law partner and I established Justice For All, a general practice law firm. I returned to my family owned plumbing company in 1999 as Executive Vice President and CEO. In 2000, I was appointed to the position of President, where I remained until 2008 at which time I established an integrated marketing firm called Mediapeel™. Mediapeel™ specializes in integrated marketing and new media and our product line includes web video magazines and website development, media buying & placement, the Mediapeel On-Time Traffic Reporting Center, and other traditional forms of advertising.
My team and I have embarked on many journeys including the establishment of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non profit breast cancer foundation created in memory of my mom who died from this disease in 2002. The Foundation is committed to raising breast cancer awareness, increasing breast health education, and generating funding for critical breast health programs. I also assisted in the development of the Gem Institute for Performance Excellence, a learning organization with a mission to provide guidance to organizations throughout the United States, relative to performance excellence. In 2006, I led an endeavor to create a comprehensive program which would allow Gem the ability to share valuable business knowledge with other companies. The FOCUS 500™ Business System was developed first, to establish a comprehensive business system capable of managing growth; second, to develop a systematic approach to measurement which was strategy based; third, to have a system that was user friendly to management and employees at all levels; and fourth, to design a strategic scorecard that was easy to understand with a dashboard that could graphically display results at a moments’ notice. With a promise to be on time, my team and I created an innovative vehicle tracking system using state of the art technology. In 2008, we established the Gem On Time Traffic Center in an effort to make good on a promise that if you needed service, we would be on time. Today, the Gem On Time Traffic Center provides exact time, up to the minute traffic reports for most all Southern New England radio stations. In addition, Mediapeel was incorporated into the mix in an effort to provide companies with expert, out of the box creative marketing solutions.
